Having graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Hons) from the Multimedia University, Derrick read in the chambers of Messrs. Cheah Teh & Su under the tutelage of Justice Su Tiang Joo, who now serves as a High Court Judge of the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

Before co-founding Nazreen Oon & Partners in 2018, Derrick honed his skills at a boutique civil litigation firm, where he worked closely with esteemed senior counsels. His expertise covers both contentious and non-contentious matters where he has represented a broad range of clients at all stages of court proceedings and arbitration. Derrick works with clients from a wide range of industries, including property developers, manufacturers, foreign state-owned companies and suppliers.

Apart from his litigation and arbitration practice, Derrick also acts as a legal adviser to multinational corporations (MNCs) and public-listed companies.
